Nicknames

I love nicknames. Love giving them, anyway. I think my deep deep love for nicknames may be due in part to the fact that as a child I never received one. Sure, I had a built in "Ash" but it was so rarely used. My first nickname came courtesy of my little brother who took to calling me "Ashcolibobsonsir," after I christened him with "Timberly Kay." It may have been revenge, but I relished my new moniker! I LOVED it!!! I have no rhyme or reason to the make up of the nicknames I bestow upon others.

Some are not a long stretch:
My BESTEST Friend in the world, Jessica, became Sess. Another great friend, Jordan, became Jo.

Others, however, make no sense at ALL, whatSOever:
My favorite little sister, Allison, is now my Pis Wis Miss. She is also Schmirtle, or Schrmirtz for short. She does not mind at all and I'm now her Big Pis. A coworker is now known as Marms, and my adorable little blonde friend Stef, is my Tiny.

Lastly, I'll give you a short list of the metamorphosis of a couple of pets of mine. Tinka is now My Twinkle Marie Belle Bitters. Lucy is Schmoople Woomples. And Smudge is Mudgins.

I don't know why I get such great joy in renaming those closest to me. Maybe it's simply proof of a personal connection I feel to these lovely beings in my life or maybe it's totally and completely random. Who knows? The only thing that's certain is that I'll keep dolling them out as long as I can get away with it!
